Swimming and Dock Diving lessons with Ronny LeJeune is tailored to each dog's skill level to build confidence and improve physical fitness. This program is designed to teach dogs and their owners the behaviors required to be a competitive dock diving team.
What behaviors are taught during swimming and dock diving lessons?
A personalized training program is created for every dog to accomplish their individual goals. The dog trainer can teach and strengthen a variety of skills for competitive dock diving:
Beginner Skills
Swimming Lessons
Introduce dogs to water and build swimming confidence with the guidance of a professional dog trainer.
Foundation Jump Progression
Improve jumping skills from ramp work to jumping off of the regulation dock.
Dock Obedience
Teach and improve the obedience skills needed for optimal performance in dock diving.
Advanced Skills
Distance Jumps
Increase jumping distance with toy throwing instruction that develops a dog who tracks and catches the toy when thrown.
Air Retrieve
Develop a dog that has the confidence to run full speed and jump to catch a toy suspended in the air over the water.
Hydro Dash
Improve swimming speed and cardiovascular stamina needed to compete in Hydro Dash (timed water retrieve).
Are the lessons on a regulation dock and pool?
All swimming and dock diving lessons are completed at Mill Pond Kennels in Broussard, LA unless prior arrangements are made. Lessons are available during Mill Pond Kennel’s business operation hours and competition trial schedule.
Swimming and dock diving lessons provides dogs and their owners with the skills that are needed to compete in Dock Diving.

Optimal Canine’s Swimming and Dock Diving Lessons are available to dog owners in the Lafayette, Louisiana area. All lessons utilize pool and dock rental from Mill Pond Kennels in Broussard, LA. All lessons are available Monday through Saturday. Sunday is unavailable due to facility closure.

What are the requirements for the day training program?
Dogs 6 months and older can enroll in swimming and dock diving lessons. Proof of health is required by the training facility for dock rental time. This includes current DAPP Vaccinations (Distemper, Canine Adenovirus types 1 & 2, Canine Parainfluenza Virus, & Canine Parvovirus), and Rabies Vaccination.
What are the dog trainer's qualifications?
Ronny LeJeune has been professionally working with dogs since 2015 and has been an active dog sport competitor for 10 years. She has experience with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities. However, her specialty is training high energy and performance dogs. She has achieved the following certifications:
Certified Canine Fitness Trainer (CCFT)
Through University of Tennessee.
Certified in Canine Nutrition (Cert.CN)
Through the Companion Animal Science Institute (CASI)
Certified Canine Fitness Coach (CCFC)
Through the Do More With Your Dog Program (DMWYD)
Canine First Aid & CPR Certified
She has two dogs who actively compete in North American Dive Dogs (NADD) and she is training to become a NADD judge. Her dogs are Quest (German Shorthaired Pointer, GSP) and Kessel (American Staffordshire Terrier, AST).
