Conditioning Program

All canine fitness and conditioning programs are designed by a Certified Canine Fitness Trainer (CCFT), Ronny LeJeune. They are are individually tailored to improve muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, body awareness, and flexibility.

What will my dog learn in the custom canine fitness program?

A personalized fitness program is individually designed to accomplish each dog’s goals. The fitness program is suitable to support daily life, prevent exercise related injuries, increase stability after physical rehabilitation, and improve physical performance:

Warm-Up & Cool-Down

Skills to prepare the body for exercise and decrease the heart rate back to resting state.

Each customized canine fitness program includes multiple exercises intended to build muscle strength, cardiovascular endurance, body awareness, proprioception, and flexibility.

What do I receive from the canine fitness and conditioning program?

The canine fitness and conditioning program provides customized exercises. Therefore, the canine fitness trainer develops a three month fitness program that includes the following features:

Initial Consultation

A phone consultation is completed before each month's fitness program is created. The consultation is intended to discuss the pet owner's training goals, schedule all lessons, and provide assessment homework that the dog trainer needs to start the program.

3 Month Program

One conditioning program is provided each month to progress the dog's skills and to improve the dogs physical fitness.

Recorded Lessons

All lessons are hosted on Zoom Video Conferencing and are recorded. A copy is provided to the dog owner after the completion of each lesson.

Video Analysis

The client is provided the opportunity to submit video footage of their homework assignments to receive feedback on how to progress the skills further and ensure the dog is maintaining ideal form throughout the exercises provided.

Printable Fitness Plans

The dog trainer provides a PDF of the exercises covered in each conditioning program. A new PDF is provided each month which includes notes about each behavior.

Learning Resources

The canine fitness trainer provides learning and reference materials to support the dog owner in teaching the exercises with ideal form.

Custom Canine Fitness & Conditioning Program

Optimal Canine’s canine conditioning program is a customized exercise plan for dogs of all ages. Dog owners receive one customized fitness program every month for three months:

How does the canine fitness and conditioning program work?

One customized fitness program is provided each month for three months. Each program includes multiple exercises focused on improving muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, body awareness, proprioception, and flexibility. The exercises are progressed each month to further challenge the dog and continue improving physical fitness.

The dog owner and canine fitness trainer meet once a month on Zoom Video Conferencing to review over each month’s fitness program. The Zoom lessons are recorded and a copy is provided to the dog owner for their resources.

What are the requirements for the day training program?

The program accepts dogs six months and older without current injuries. The program does not require dogs to know specific skills to enroll; however fitness foundations are beneficial to receive the most value from the service. Foundation skills include Tuck Sit, Rock Back Sit, Folding Down, Push Stand, Kick Back Stand, individual limb targeting, and hind limb pivots.

Virtual Dog Training lessons are recommended to dogs without the foundation skills listed above.
